Steve cannot speak for the current members of Journey but we have been told that Steve Perry as a Co-Writer and Singer was never contacted for permission to use the performance of "Don't Stop Believin" at the RNC. As far as he is concerned, this song and his performance have NO political party affiliation.

May 12, 2009:
I am posting this statement on fanasylum.com for it’s the only site I post my official statements.
Today I was made aware that there was an attempt to perpetrate a hoax on my most faithful fans.
It has been brought to my attention that there was an announcement of a show that I was supposedly to perform at in Hawaii. This is absolutely a hoax and should be treated as such.
It has also been brought to my attention that several news sites are reporting that my management had cancelled the supposed performance. There were never any plans for any such performance made by me or anyone authorized by me. This is the first we have heard of this.
I’m only posting this out of concern for my faithful fans.
I encourage all news sites to post this statement, with the hope it will clarify the confusion brought about by this hoax.
I simply wanted you to know the truth.
Sincerely,
Steve Perry

January 22, 2006:
First of all, I must get one thing out of the way; because of so many recent inquiries, I want to make very clear: "I am not on MYSPACE.COM nor have I ever been." and that's that !! Please don't be deceived. Where were we.....Oh yea....."43" .........{again}!! Time does fly. Last summer as I was working on the Houston Live DVD, it seemed like that show was just the other day. It certainly felt that way. I'm very proud to have been in the band in 1981. We were good together !!!
As I think about my birthday I remember, my Mom and Dad told me once that they always wanted a son but would have been happy no matter what. Well they got a son and between Mom's don't give up attitude and my Dad making me laugh by tickling me to the point of peeing my pants, I always knew I had much love around me. I remember Dad would always sing me to sleep.

Steve Perry Autographed Journey 1980 Japan Tour Jacket...
AUCTION ENDED SUNDAY (7/10/05) AT 1:31 P.M. EST
Dear Fans,
I've signed a Jacket which was owned by Jackie Villanueva. Jackie was one of the most devoted and hardest working guys in our road crew from the very early years through the time that I was in Journey. Through an old childhood friend named Larry, I met Jackie. Without them, I would have never met Journey's Manager, Herbie Herbert, and wouldn't have had the opportunity to become the lead singer of Journey. Jackie's brother, John Villanueva, has donated Jackie's Tour Jacket and I have signed it for this e-bay auction. All funds will be sent to the Kaiser Hospice Services who helped Jackie. This is a one of a kind "Japan Tour 1980" jacket. Thanks for your contributions.

The Paul Green School of Rock, made famous in both the Jack Black flick and the doc Rock School, just opened its L.A. branch on Hollywood Boulevard, and we checked out a li’l student jam session last Thursday (along with teacher/Frank Zappa vocalist Ike Willis and members of the band Ill Niño). The next night, the young’uns played a gig at the Knitting Factory, where none other than Steve Perry came to support and was treated to an impromptu cover of “In the City,” though we think the Journey tune “Separate Ways” would have been more apropos. Despite his appearance at the band’s Walk of Fame induction last year, the singer is still not in the current lineup. [Don’t stop believin’. —ed]
Five Journey albums have been remastered and expanded with memorabilia-rich album booklets for an Aug. 1 release via Columbia/Legacy. A handful of the titles have new bonus tracks, including 1988's "Greatest Hits," which will feature the 1996 single "When You Love a Woman." 1978's "Infinity," which marked the vocal debut of Steve Perry, and 1979's "Evolution" retain their original track lists, while 1980's "Departure" will include the bonus tracks "Little Girl" and "Natural Thing." The mega-selling 1981 album "Escape" will include live versions of "Don't Stop Believin'," "Who's Crying Now" and "Open Arms" from the recent archival CD/DVD "Live in Houston," plus the studio track "La Raza Del Sol."
Musician Tommy Denander and a possible collaboration with Steve!
